Lumecca IPL Photofacial

Clear the spots, redness, and sun damage that can make your skin look older than it feels.

Advanced IPL for brown spots, freckles, uneven skin tone, redness, and tiny visible vessels.

Lumecca gives us a targeted way to address many of those red and brown concerns and bring more clarity and evenness back to your complexion.

The goal is healthier-looking skin that still looks completely like you.

When Sun Exposure Starts Showing Up

Clearer, more even-looking skin

You may notice the brown spots first—a few from years of sun exposure, freckles that have become more noticeable, redness around your nose or cheeks, or tiny visible vessels.

Sometimes it is the accumulation of uneven skin tone that changes how your skin looks over time.

Skincare can do a lot for skin health, but some pigment and vascular changes sit deeper than topical products can effectively address. That is where IPL can be especially useful.

Common concerns

  • Brown spots and pigmentation
  • Sun spots and age spots
  • Darker freckles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Redness
  • Tiny visible vessels
  • Mottled-looking skin
What Is Lumecca?

Targeted light for red and brown concerns

Lumecca is an advanced form of IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, designed to target pigmented and vascular concerns in the skin.

Controlled pulses of light are absorbed by specific targets: melanin in brown pigmentation and hemoglobin within redness and small visible vessels. This creates a controlled response that allows the treated concern to gradually clear.

We can target specific red and brown concerns while leaving the surrounding skin intact.

Why I Use Lumecca

Good technology. Personalized treatment.

IPL devices are not all the same. Lumecca is a high-powered system designed to deliver strong energy in wavelengths that are particularly useful for brown pigmentation and vascular concerns.

Its large treatment area, rapid pulse delivery, and sapphire cooling tip help make treatment efficient and more comfortable. It can often produce noticeable changes with fewer treatments than traditional IPL systems.

I choose the settings according to your skin, what we are treating, your recent sun exposure, and how your skin responds.

Good technology gives me better tools. Your treatment still needs to be personalized.

What Lumecca Can Help With

Pigmented and vascular concerns

Brown pigment

Sun spots, age spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation, uneven pigmentation, and dyschromia.

Redness

Rosacea-related redness, tiny visible vessels, spider veins, telangiectasias, and selected cherry angiomas.

Treatment areas

Face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, and other areas with appropriate benign pigmented or vascular concerns.

Lumecca IPL is intended for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. It should not be used on Fitzpatrick skin types V–VI because of the increased risk of burns and unwanted pigment changes.

Before + After

Lumecca IPL results

Selected results showing improvement in pigmentation, sun damage, redness, and uneven skin tone.

Individual results vary. The number of treatments needed depends on your skin, the concern being treated, treatment area, and individual response.

After Treatment

Brown spots may look darker first

Brown spots often become darker after IPL. During the first day or two, pigment may look more pronounced or develop a darker, speckled appearance.

Over the following several days, that pigment gradually works toward the surface and begins to flake or fade.

Do not pick or scrub treated areas. Let your skin clear the pigment naturally.

Seeing pigment temporarily darken can be part of the expected treatment response.

What your skin may look like afterward

  • Temporary redness
  • Warmth
  • Mild sensitivity
  • Darkening of brown spots
  • Temporary changes in treated vessels

There is generally little interruption to your normal routine, although your skin may look more spotted for a short period before it looks clearer.

Comfort + Treatment Plan

What does Lumecca feel like?

You will see a bright flash with each pulse. Most people describe the sensation as a quick snap against the skin.

A sapphire cooling tip cools the skin during treatment and helps make the experience more comfortable. Treatment time depends on the size and number of areas we are treating.

How many treatments will I need?

You may begin seeing changes after your first treatment. Many clients benefit from approximately 2 to 3 treatments, although some concerns may require fewer or additional sessions.

The plan depends on what we are treating, the amount of pigment or redness, the treatment area, your skin, your response, and the result you want.

Each treatment gives us information about how your skin responds and what it needs next.

Sun Exposure Matters

Protecting your skin protects your result

IPL works by targeting pigment, which means recent tanning and significant sun exposure matter. I want to know about recent sun exposure, tanning, and upcoming travel before we treat.

You will need to avoid tanning and excessive direct sun exposure before treatment and be diligent about sun protection afterward.

Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV

Lumecca is appropriate for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. It should not be used on Fitzpatrick V–VI or darker skin tones because surrounding melanin can absorb too much light energy, creating a significant risk of burns and unwanted pigment changes.

If IPL is not appropriate for your skin tone, we can discuss alternatives better suited to your skin.

Choosing the right treatment for your skin is more important than choosing a particular device.

An Important Safety Note

Have new or changing spots evaluated first

IPL is designed to treat appropriate benign pigmented and vascular concerns.

If you have a mole or pigmented spot that is new, changing, irregular, bleeding, itching, growing, looks noticeably different from your other spots, or otherwise concerns you, please have it evaluated by a dermatologist or other qualified healthcare professional before your Lumecca appointment.

I will also look carefully at the areas we plan to treat. If I see a lesion or spot that concerns me, I will not treat over it and may recommend further evaluation first.

I want us to feel confident about what we are treating before we treat it.

Which Treatment Is Right?

Lumecca, PRP Microneedling, or Morpheus8?

They address different things. You do not need to figure out which treatment you need before you come in.

Lumecca IPL

Best suited to brown pigmentation, sun spots, freckles, redness, and tiny visible vessels.

PRP Microneedling

Often chosen for skin texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, acne scarring, and overall skin quality.

Morpheus8

May be more appropriate for laxity, firmness, deeper tissue remodeling, or selected deeper acne scarring.

Explore Morpheus8

Sometimes a treatment sequence makes more sense than expecting one device to address every concern.

Is Lumecca Right for Me?

The treatment should fit your skin and goals

Before recommending IPL, I consider your Fitzpatrick skin type, type and depth of pigmentation, recent sun exposure, medications and supplements, medical history, previous treatments, tendency toward pigment changes, treatment area, and goals.

Sometimes Lumecca is the right treatment. Sometimes another approach makes more sense.

Video or in person

We will look at your concerns, discuss your goals, and determine whether Lumecca, PRP Microneedling, Morpheus8, or another approach makes the most sense.

Video is helpful for an initial discussion; some concerns still need in-person evaluation before a final treatment decision.
