Whole-Person Naturopathic + Functional Medicine

Root-Cause Medicine

Understand your body. Address what’s underneath.

Whole-person naturopathic and functional medicine to help you feel better and support healing from the inside out.

You know when you don’t feel like yourself. Maybe you’re exhausted even though you’re trying to get enough sleep. Your digestion has changed. Your hormones feel different. Your brain doesn’t feel as sharp as it used to.

Or maybe your lab results have been called “normal,” but you still know something feels off.

Eventually, you can find yourself doing a lot for your health without really understanding what your body needs or how all the pieces fit together for you.

Root-Cause Medicine gives us the opportunity to step back, connect the dots, and look at the whole picture.

Your Symptoms Are Information

A symptom tells us something is happening. It doesn’t always tell us why.

Fatigue can have many contributors. So can anxiety or depression, brain fog, bloating, headaches, sleep changes, hormonal symptoms, and changes in weight or metabolism.

Instead of looking at each concern as though it exists on its own, I want to understand how the pieces fit together for you.

  • Health history
  • Current symptoms and concerns
  • Previous diagnoses and treatments
  • Nutrition and digestion
  • Hormones and menstrual health
  • Energy, mood, and brain function
  • Sleep, stress, and nervous system
  • Lifestyle and environment
  • Medications and supplements
  • Personal health goals

Then we determine which laboratory testing or imaging would be most helpful for understanding what may be contributing to how you feel.

Because your body is connected.

Digestion can affect mood and brain function. Hormonal changes can affect sleep, energy, cognition, metabolism, and emotional well-being. Chronic stress can influence digestion, hormones, blood sugar, sleep, inflammation, and your nervous system.

What looks like several unrelated problems may have overlapping contributors underneath them.

When Your Labs Are “Normal,” but You Still Don’t Feel Well

Look beyond a single number. Understand the pattern.

Being told that your labs look normal can be reassuring. It can also be frustrating when you still don’t feel like yourself.

Laboratory testing gives us valuable information, but the reference range beside a result is only one way of interpreting that information. In addition to looking for values that may indicate disease or warrant further evaluation, I also look at laboratory patterns through a functional medicine lens.

I’m interested in how well your body appears to be functioning, not simply whether a result has crossed into an abnormal range.

Functional or optimal ranges can sometimes be narrower than standard laboratory reference ranges. A result can fall within a laboratory reference range and still be meaningful when we consider it alongside your symptoms, history, other markers, and how you actually feel.

Your symptoms matter. Your history matters. Your patterns matter. Your stress and environment matter. And your lived experience of your body matters.

Science gives us valuable information. So does your experience of your own body.

Mind, body, and spirit are part of the same person.

Your physical health doesn’t exist separately from your emotional well-being, nervous system, stress, environment, relationships, or the way you experience your life.

I want to know what your days actually feel like. Do you wake up already tired? Does your digestion change when you’re stressed? Can you fall asleep but wake at 2 or 3 a.m. with your mind running? Are you relying on caffeine and willpower by the afternoon?

Sometimes the most important thing you can tell me is simply:

“I just don’t feel like myself.”

I believe that matters. Your mind affects your body. Your body affects how you feel emotionally. Your nervous system influences both. Your sense of connection, meaning, purpose, and inner well-being are also part of your experience as a whole person.

Where Intuition Fits

There are things we can measure. And there are patterns we notice by listening carefully.

I use your history, symptoms, physical findings, laboratory results, clinical training, and experience to understand what may be happening physiologically.

I also pay attention to the details that stand out as you tell me your story—a symptom you thought was unrelated, a repeating pattern, something mentioned in passing, or a change you sensed before you had words for it.

Intuition helps me notice where I may need to listen more closely.

It doesn’t replace medical evaluation or clinical reasoning. It helps inform the questions I ask, the connections I notice, and the areas that may deserve further exploration.

You Shouldn’t Have to Piece Together Your Own Health Plan

A thoughtful, whole-person care plan—with a reason behind it.

There is more health information available than ever before. That can leave you feeling like you’re supposed to become your own doctor. Eventually, you can end up with a cabinet full of supplements and still have no clear strategy.

Together, we determine what deserves attention first, which testing will give us useful information, what your results mean in context, which recommendations make sense for your body and life, and how your plan should be refined over time.

Your care may include nutrition, lifestyle, targeted supplementation, digestive or hormonal support, sleep, movement, stress and nervous system support, and other individualized therapies when appropriate.

More isn’t always better. I want you to understand what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and what we’re paying attention to along the way.

Your Root-Cause Care Journey

Start with understanding. Continue with guided care when it makes sense.

Every new Root-Cause Medicine client begins with an Initial Root-Cause Health Consultation. This first appointment stands on its own.

It gives me time to understand your case, determine our priorities, decide which testing may be appropriate, and determine what kind of support would make the most sense for you.

If I believe you would benefit from more structured ongoing care, I may recommend the six-month Root-Cause Health Program after your initial consultation.

You don’t have to commit to a six-month program before I’ve had the opportunity to understand your health.

Initial Root-Cause Health Consultation

60 to 90 minutes

This is where we build the foundation for your care. We explore your health history, current concerns, symptoms, goals, nutrition, digestion, hormones, sleep, stress, lifestyle, environment, previous treatments, and other relevant factors.

Together, we identify priorities, patterns, useful laboratory testing or imaging, foundational support you may begin right away, and what the next phase of care may look like.

When appropriate, we can begin with nutrition, sleep, movement, hydration, stress, and nervous system support while we gather additional information.

The foundations matter because everything else has to live on top of them.

After your consultation, we determine the appropriate next step. For clients who would benefit from a more guided process, I may recommend the six-month Root-Cause Health Program.

Six Months of Guided, Personalized Care

Following your Initial Root-Cause Health Consultation, clients who would benefit from ongoing care may be invited into the six-month Root-Cause Health Program.

The program includes six visits designed to guide you through testing, your personalized plan, implementation, refinement, reassessment, and the transition into your next phase of care.

The initial consultation is separate from the program.

This gives us enough continuity to see how your body responds over time instead of making recommendations once and leaving you to figure out the rest alone.

Month 1

Understand + Respond

First Functional Medicine Lab Review | 45 minutes

We review initial results alongside your symptoms and history, establish priorities, and build your comprehensive care plan—the roadmap we begin working from together.

Month 2

Respond + Refine

Comprehensive Follow-Up | 45 minutes

We look at what is improving, what your body is responding to, and where the plan should be refined so it works for the person actually living it.

Months 3–4

Adjust + Integrate

Two Focused Check-Ins | 30 minutes each

We address questions and changing symptoms, understand what needs time, refine care, and order follow-up testing when appropriate.

Month 5

Reassess

Second Functional Medicine Lab Review | 45 minutes

We compare relevant follow-up testing, symptoms, and laboratory patterns to see what improved, what still deserves attention, and how to make the next phase more precise.

Month 6

Integrate + Plan What Comes Next

Integration + Next-Step Follow-Up | 45 minutes

We look at the full picture—where you began, what changed, what still needs support, your next priorities, and the level of care that now makes sense.

The Complete Program

Six Visits, Each With a Purpose

Understand, respond, refine, adjust, reassess, and integrate. The end of the program is a reassessment point, not an automatic stopping point.

Progress Doesn’t Always Move at the Same Speed

A plateau gives us information, too.

Many people experience noticeable changes early in care. Then progress may become slower. Sometimes a plateau tells us the plan needs adjustment. Sometimes the body needs more time. Sometimes life, stress, travel, illness, hormonal shifts, or sleep temporarily affect how you feel.

And sometimes your body is doing important work even when changes are no longer obvious from week to week.

We keep paying attention instead of assuming slower progress means nothing is happening. We look at the pattern together and decide what your body needs next.
What Happens After the Program?

Your care can become lighter as your body becomes more stable.

Graduate From Regular Care

You’re doing well, understand your plan, and may only need to return when something changes or you want periodic reassessment.

Continue Targeted Care

You’ve made meaningful progress, but another area deserves focused attention. We decide together what makes sense next.

Transition Into Ongoing Wellness Care

You want to stay connected to your health proactively through an ongoing wellness pathway or membership suited to where you are now.

Why Six Months?

Meaningful health changes take time.

You may begin feeling better much sooner. But long-standing digestive, hormonal, metabolic, mood, energy, sleep, or other concerns require enough time to see how your body responds.

  • Implement your plan
  • See what your body responds to
  • Refine recommendations
  • Allow changes time to take hold
  • Support you through plateaus
  • Repeat appropriate testing
  • Compare progress
  • Make further adjustments
  • Decide what your body needs next
Six months gives us time for meaningful progress. It doesn’t mean every health concern will be completely resolved within six months.
Support the Body. Don’t Just Chase the Symptom.

Thoughtful care based on the whole person in front of me.

My naturopathic approach asks us to look deeper. What may be contributing to how you feel? What foundations need more support? What may be getting in the way? Where do we need more information? And what is your body showing us as we make changes?

I tend to begin with natural and foundational approaches when appropriate, using nutrition, lifestyle, targeted supplementation, nervous system support, and other therapies based on the individual.

When something requires evaluation or care outside what we’re working on together, I believe in appropriate referral and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Start Where You Are

New to Root-Cause Medicine?

Begin with your Initial Root-Cause Health Consultation. This 60 to 90-minute visit gives us time to understand your health story, establish priorities, determine which testing may be most useful, begin appropriate foundational support, and decide what kind of care makes sense from there.

If I believe a structured period of continued care would benefit you, we can discuss the six-month Root-Cause Health Program after I understand your individual needs.
